First Logie for V8 Supercars and Seven

V8 Supercars Australia has won its first Logie for the Seven Network after the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 took the 2008 award for the Most Outstanding Sports Coverage last night.

The Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 took the award ahead of the AFL Grand Final, the Australian Open Tennis Championships, the 3 Mobile Ashes Series (Fifth Test) and the FINA World Swimming Championships.
It was a coup for V8 Supercar Television to win the award in its first year of producing the vision from the V8 Supercar Championship Series on behalf of the Seven Network. V8 Supercar Television began production last year in a first for sport in Australia.
Under the direction of Seven Head of Sport Saul Shtein, the joint venture operation produced a record amount of live coverage of the V8 Supercar Championship Series and provided record ratings for the sport throughout the year.
“It was certainly a great team effort,” said V8STV Executive Producer Murray Lomax.
“At the start of last year it was a huge challenge to make the pictures for Seven and with Saul Shtein and his team we are very proud of the end result. We built a team of the right people to achieve this result.
“And it is also a great result for first year Producer Simon Fordham to help win a Logie in a sport that he was totally new to but clearly did such an outstanding job.”

V8 Supercar Television provides the vision for the Seven Network, BigPond Sports and an international feed that is delivered from every track to more than 110 countries around the world.
